"The Jett" Mixed Media Art Pillow

This modern art pillow was recently featured in two juried art exhibitions, a local Fiber Exhibition and the W.E.S.T. Austin Studio Tour. It is handcrafted with black lace layered upon raw silk with a vintage snakeskin-pattern textile on the back. For contrast in weight and texture, I wrapped the pillow with a 1960's silver metallic belt as a centerpiece in order to weave the back fabric through the belt holes to create 3-D textile poufs.

Then, to mimic the pattern of the back snakeskin silky textile, I Iayered a multi-textured necklace, hand-strung with vintage silver-tone tubular beads and finished with vintage, black glass, faceted beads.
